BIOGRAPHY

   Fabian Lance

Fabian Lance is no newcomer to the music industry and his repertoire proves that beyond a doubt. Born in Washington, DC —but  grew up in Axton, VA.  Fabian Lance began teaching himself to play the piano at around age 11, and later achieved a BA degree in Composition and Commercial music at Virginia Union University in Richmond, VA, where he was a musical protégé of Will Downing, Tyrone Corbett, Weldon Hill and  James “Saxsmo” Gates  to name a few. As a pianist he has worked as an MD for many talented artist and musicians, he was a studio musician for the now syndicated television shows Living Single and Little Bill at various times. He’s toured Europe several times with Broadway Productions, including Sister ACT I & II, The Wiz, Eubie and served as pianist for Ronnie Jordan, Plunky and Oneness, and the James Cleveland Music Workshop.

He has also produced outstanding releases by Anthony Ingram and Joye B. Moore. He’s a founding member of the Super Contemporary Jazz Group F.R.E.N.S with Carl Lester‐El (Ramsey Lewis), vocalist Rudy Faulkner and Carter Beaufort (Dave Matthews Band). Whether it was his recent performances to a sold out audience at his debut cd “Reminisce” release party, the Jazz stage at the 2nd Street Festival (one of the largest Mid Atlantic festivals) or the Richmond Jazz Festival performing with F.R.E.N.S, Fabian Lance’s mission was accomplished—

Fabian Lance is a 2019 Grammy nominee for Best New Artist | Best Contemporary Instrumental Album | Best R & B song Crazy Love (Charlyane “Chip” Page-Green vocals) | Best Arrangement Instruments and Vocals (Round Midnight) | Best Improvised Jazz Solo (Round Midnight – James “Saxsmo” Gates & Fabian Lance – soloists)
